Immunity for Persons Who Report Child Abuse and Neglect

This publication discusses State laws on immunity from criminal or civil liability for both mandatory and voluntary reporters who in good faith report suspected instances of child abuse or neglect. The publication also discusses the provision of immunity for persons who take photographs or x-rays, perform medical examinations or tests, or participate in investigations or legal proceedings related to child abuse or neglect reports. This publication presents a general overview of this aspect of child welfare law.
