Youth's Parental Rights

A pregnant minor who is placed in a residential care facility may not sign a statement committing to any definitive plan prior to the birth of her child and must not be subject to coercion to release her child before or after the birth of her child.

The maximum number of children in care in a foster family home may be extended to allow a parenting youth in foster care to remain with the child of the parenting youth.

An obstetrical exam is required for a pregnant minor and must be completed within 10 days of entering the residential care facility. The infant must be delivered in a hospital licensed by the State of Idaho.
