Rights of LGBTQIA2S+ Youth in Foster Care

Citation: Rev. Stat. § 620.363

A child in foster care shall have the right to the following:

  • To be free from physical, sexual, or emotional injury or exploitation
  • To develop physically, mentally, and emotionally to their potential
  • To have a safe, secure, and stable family
  • To express opinions on issues concerning their placement, care, or treatment
  • To request placement be made where they feel the safest and most accepted
