Jurisdiction

An adoption petition must be filed in the circuit court of the relevant county.

The petition must be filed in the county where the petitioner resides or has resided for at least the 12 months prior to the petition.
Any person who has been a resident of any U.S. Army post, military reservation, or fort within the State of Kentucky for 60 days, or a resident of this State who has resided on such Army post, military reservation, or fort for a total of 60 days before filing the petition, may bring an action for adoption of a child in any county adjacent to the Army post or military reservation.
