This training offers participants an opportunity to better understand the links between child trauma and neglect and being involved in the child welfare system and being a victim of sexual exploitation by exploring the following questions: 1) What makes children involved in child welfare more vulnerable?, 2) How does poor attachment increase risk and the trauma bond between the child and their perpetrator?, and 3) As caregivers, how can we help children heal from the trauma of trafficking? Participants will be able to:
- Define human trafficking, commercial sexual exploitation of children, and domestic minor sex trafficking
- Gain a better understanding of who is vulnerable to trafficking and why
- Gain a better understanding of the trauma bond and what needs a survivor may have;
- Identify key principles of developing a transformational relationship
