Evaluation provides the information necessary to examine how well a program or initiative is being implemented and determine whether that program is achieving desired results. Periodic and well-designed evaluations of child welfare programs and practices are critical to helping inform and improve program design, implementation, collaboration, service delivery, and effectiveness. When evaluation data are available, program administrators can direct limited resources to where they are needed the most, such as to support the most effective programs.
