Youths' Religious Rights

In policy: A youth aged 13 and older who is placed in out-of-home care has the right to fair treatment, whatever their gender, gender identity, race, ethnicity, religion, national origin, disability, medical needs, and/or sexual orientation.
Agency Responsibilities

Consistent with the best interests of the child, the parents or legal guardian of a child in out-of-home placement may, upon request, obtain for the child an out-of-home placement consistent with their religious affiliation, if this placement is available and suitable.
In policy: A youth aged 13 and older who is placed in out-of-home care has the right to receive a copy of the rights described in the 'Bill of Rights' and to have these rights fully explained by their caseworker consistent with their age, developmental level, and understanding.
Addressing Grievances

In policy: A youth aged 13 and older who is placed in out-of-home care has the right to confidentially contact the local administration regarding violations of their rights and be free of threats or punishment for making a complaint. Any time they feel their rights are not being met or violated, they may contact their caseworker or attorney.
