Protective factors are conditions or attributes in individuals, families, communities, or the larger society that, when present, can mitigate or eliminate risk and can increase health and well-being. Protective factors come in the forms of resources, supports, or coping strategies that allow parents to parent effectively, even under stress.

Protective Factors Part 1' is the first in a two-part series highlighting protective factors.
