Assessment of a Parenting Education Program: Preventing Child Abuse and Neglect in At-Risk Families Through Parent Education and Support (PDF - 730 KB)
O'Rourke (2014)
Assesses the effectiveness of a parenting education program offered at Saint Joseph Parenting Center (SJPC) in Stamford, Connecticut, in promoting positive parenting behaviors through parenting education, and assesses the level of client satisfaction with the teachers, staff, and overall experience offered at SJPC.

Co-Parenting and Parenting Skills Class
Child & Family Services of Northwestern Michigan
Facilitates several programs designed to educate parents involved with the child welfare system in Michigan and provides them with tools to manage stress, deal with difficult behaviors, work with a co-parent, and keep children safe.

ECHO Parenting & Education
Offers parenting classes and professional trainings to promote safe, stable, nurturing family relationships that lead to healthy development and healing from generational trauma. The program, based in Los Angeles, provides a curriculum using the latest research on brain development, nonviolent communication, emotional skill building, and how to build resilience in young people.

Family Networks Project: An Efficacy Study of Stepping Stones Triple P for Children Under Age 2

Describes the Family Networks Project, which was developed to assess the initial efficacy of the Stepping Stones Triple P-Positive Parenting Program in helping parents of children below age 2 with developmental disabilities to strengthen their families and prevent child maltreatment.

Healthy Families Montgomery
Outlines a home visiting service for first-time parents screened for stressors such as mental health or substance abuse concerns or the experience of abuse and neglect as a child. The program begins before the child is born and continues for at least six months. Families may receive visits for up to three years.

Empowerment Resources, Inc.
Outlines the Nurturing Parenting Program, an evidence-based program that supports families in raising children in a nurturing environment. Workshops help Florida families improve communication, develop positive ways to discipline children, and create a safe and healthy family environment.

Prevent Child Abuse Kentucky
Aims to meet caregivers where they are and engage with parents and families using parent education. The 12-week program is designed to provide the skills necessary for improving parent/child relationships.

Parenting Matters
Describes an evidence-based, in-home parenting education program for families in Florida that focuses on child safety, parenting skills, social supports, and positive decision making. The program is tailored to parents with topics they are interested in and/or need help with in the home.

Reviews literature on parenting programs operating in Shelby County, Tennessee for which rigorous evaluations exist. This literature review addresses the outcomes associated with the evaluated programs including the positive short-term and long-term effects on children and their parents, particularly focusing on increased quality in the home environment and positive child development.

Washington State Parent Advocacy Network (2021)
Describes a program in Washington that provides peer mentoring for families in the court system in addition to early outreach and education that helps shift parental attitudes from anger and resentment to acknowledgement and acceptance of their court-ordered plans. The program increases the well-being of children in foster care as their parents receive mentoring that encourages their positive engagement in the process.

Web-Based Parenting Intervention for Mothers of Infants at Risk for Maltreatment
Oregon Research Institute (2015)
Explores a web-based intervention designed for mothers whose infants are at risk for maltreatment. The intervention provides live coaching techniques designed to improve positive parenting and child behavior. Results of the intervention are compared to accessibility of resources on brain injury and its effects on child behavior.
