Information Gateway’s library is here to help you find the information you need. Learn about borrowing materials, visiting the library in person, getting help with a reference question, and other library services provided by our library.
Who can check out materials from the Information Gateway library?
- The Children’s Bureau and Information Gateway employees can check out physical library materials for an unlimited amount of time and can fully access our digital collections.
- The general public should work with their local public, community college, or university library to request materials they are interested in.
The library’s physical collection is not available for circulation to the general public, but much of our digital collection is available for download through the library catalog or directly from the publisher.
Children’s Bureau and Information Gateway staff: Do you need a book or article that isn’t available online? Email a librarian to request it and we will seek to obtain it and send it to you. If it is not already in our collection, we will review it for inclusion.
How do I visit the library in person?
The public is welcome to visit the Information Gateway library (located in Reston, VA) and use the collections by appointment. Visitors will be accompanied and assisted by an Information Gateway librarian while using the collection. Photocopiers are available for use with librarian assistance. The online catalog can be accessed on the Information Gateway website.
Ask a librarian to schedule an appointment.
How do I get help with a reference question?
Expert reference librarians are available to assist with research and provide answers to reference questions received by email.
I’m a staff member of the Children’s Bureau or Information Gateway. How do I get a library account?
We are working hard to provide new features such as individual library accounts to our users. We thank you for your patience as we work to bring you an exciting new library experience! Send us an email to request an account.
