Real-Life Stories: Narratives

Real-life stories feature first-person perspectives from children, youth, families, and professionals with child welfare system experience. The narratives focus on this year’s National Foster Care Month theme. “Foster Care as a Support to Families, not a Substitute for Parents,”  and highlight the concept of supportive relationships as key factors in achieving family stability, individual success, and maintaining family connections. These narratives can help connect real life to important issues and can be used as tools for training new child welfare professionals, recruiting and training foster parents, and in National Foster Care Month State and local media and awareness campaigns. Narratives from National Foster Care Month 20162017, and 2018 also are available.
