This is the letter sent to an agency that expresses the feelings and experiences of a family and the child placed with them.
From Van and Jackie:
We started out just as 'grandma' and 'grandpa,' when Nickole was a foster child who attended our church. Then she was placed in Saginaw, which was a little over 2 hours from our home. Through the Reconnect program, we became mentors to Nickole and were able to visit her often. She soon became a very important part of our family. We loved her like our own. Thanks to Jennie Aylor and the Reconnect program, when Nickole achieved her goals she was ready to be placed permanently. The good Lord directed us to become foster parents for Nickole. So now she's been permanently placed with us, and she is such a joy.
It [permanent placement] means that when I need help I know who and where to go, and I don't have to move out until I'm ready. It makes me feel safe knowing that I have known my family for 3 years before living with them. They are great, and they treat me like I am their real family. I am learning a lot from them all. I'm glad that I met them. They are making life easier and fun at the same time. Thanks to everyone involved! I now have a family who loves me and will take care of me.
