Alternative Responses to Child Maltreatment: Findings from NCANDS

U.S. Department of Health and Human Services, Office of the Assistant Secretary for Planning and Evaluation, 2005. This report examines case-level data (case characteristics, circumstances of reports, and outcomes) reported by six States that offered both alternative response and traditional investigation during 2002. The findings indicate that children referred to alternative response were not at any greater risk for subsequent reports or victimization than those who received an investigation.
