Substance Abuse Prevention & Treatment Services

Substance abuse is a common problem in families involved with the child welfare system. There is increasing awareness that the abuse of drugs or alcohol by parents and other caregivers can have a negative impact on the health, safety, and well-being of children. Because so many child welfare cases involve substance abuse, child welfare agencies have begun to use a range of strategies to prevent and treat substance abuse in families, improving outcomes for children.
