Respite Services for Resource Families
Respite care is for members of adoptive, foster, or kinship families who need a break from the demands of caring for children who may have special needs or challenging behavior. It is an important service for supporting families, particularly during reunification or postadoption, and can be helpful in preventing a child's reentry into foster care. In this section, find resources describing respite care and a database for locating respite care opportunities for families of children with special needs.
