Domestic Violence Services
In recent years, increasing attention has been focused on children who witness violence between family members at home. Even when children are not directly injured by violence, exposure to violence in the home can contribute to behavioral, social, or emotional problems. In addition, research suggests that child maltreatment and domestic violence are co-occurring in an estimated 30 to 60 percent of cases.
Child welfare and domestic violence service providers must work together toward common goals of ensuring safety and preserving families. These goals are the basis for collaboration and partnership building in the delivery of services to children and families affected by domestic violence.
