Working With Children of Color
Almost two-thirds of the children in foster care are African-American, American Indian, or Hispanic. Many State and local agencies have programs to help children who cannot return home transition to permanent adoptive families. This section addresses compliance with the diligent recruitment component of the Multiethnic Placement Act, as amended (MEPA) and covers emerging practices for caseworkers working with African-American, American Indian, and Hispanic children and families.
