Figure 1 presents a bar graph depicting the percent of women ever married, age 18-44, who ever considered adoption, took steps toward adopting, or completed an adoption. It shows 1.3 percent ever completed an adoption; 4 percent ever took concrete steps toward adoption, and 26 percent ever considered adoption. (The source of this data is Chandra et al., 1999)
