Chapter 4: Engaging Your Community When families are supported, children are less likely to be at risk for child maltreatment and more likely to grow up happy and healthy. This chapter offers suggestions for engaging your community in supporting, strengthening, and promoting healthy families through the five protective factors. Working with others provides greater opportunities to identify strategies for ensuring that all parents in your community have the skills, supports, and resources they need to care for their children.
