April Is Child Abuse Prevention Month
Reporting Child Abuse—Since children can't protect themselves, we must help protect them. Report child abuse/neglect at 1-877-NJ-ABUSE.
- All calls are confidential and reports can be made anonymously.
- The Division of Youth and Family Services (DYFS) will investigate all reports of abuse and neglect within 24 hours of receipt of report.
- If you report abuse or neglect in good faith, you are immune from criminal or civil liability.
- If you know or suspect child abuse or neglect and fail to report it, you may be fined $1000 or imprisoned for up to six months or both.
