James and Christina
James and Christina are young parents of a baby boy who has been living in foster care. They have worked diligently to reunite their family.
Their case manager noticed that James and Christina shared a strong desire to parent their child, but with their limited support system they were unlikely to succeed on their own.
With the guidance of a family finding coach, the case manager worked with James and Christina to locate and contact their families. They arranged a family meeting, and both James and Christina's biological families attended. The family members made commitments to this young family to provide financial support when needed and emotional support for a lifetime.
During the family meeting, James' father said, "Children's needs come first, and I will do whatever necessary to make sure my grandson's needs are met, and he is kept safe!"
At the close of the family meeting, James and Christina were asked how they feel about their level of family support for the future. They answered, "Through the ups and downs, family has helped us stay focused on the positive. They have been there in hard times and times of loss."
