Child Welfare Information Gateway has expanded its website to offer more resources on workforce, training, and workload management issues to better meet the information needs of child welfare and related professionals. The website now features separate sections on workforce and training, with resources organized by topic, and the Child Welfare Workload Compendium, a new online searchable database of State and local child welfare workload initiatives.
The Workforce section (www.childwelfare.gov/systemwide/workforce) covers such key topics as:
- The workforce crisis
- Leadership development
- Managing an effective organization
- Supervision
- Recruitment and hiring
- Retention, including worker safety
The Training section (www.childwelfare.gov/systemwide/training) points to State child welfare training models, provides topically organized training materials in English and Spanish, and links to resources on various aspects of training, including:
- Professional development
- Training for administrators, supervisors, caseworkers, families, and community partners
- Assessment and evaluation
- Education and training organizations, including schools of social work
The Child Welfare Workload Compendium (www.childwelfare.gov/systemwide/workforce/compendium) is designed to assist public child welfare managers, administrators, and policymakers in addressing workload issues by providing information and tools to improve workload management. Search the database by State, category, date, or keyword to find a variety of workload resources, including studies, caseload standards, legislation and policies, and reports, and learn what other States and localities are doing to address workload issues.
