West VirginiaJoyce Cook, a Protective Services Specialist with the West Virginia Coalition Against Domestic Violence, deserves recognition as a pioneer in the collaboration between Child Protective Services and Domestic Violence Advocacy. For the past six years, she has worked tirelessly to build relationships in the service community that identify safety issues for both battered women and their children. Her ideas and energy provide the basis and act as a catalyst for current domestic violence policies and training curricula used by Child Protective Services. Additionally, she has helped to shape the State statute and procedures responsible for realizing improvements in the Circuit and Family Court systems. Ms. Cook serves as an active member of the Court Improvement Project, the Domestic Violence/Child Victimization Workgroup, the Domestic Violence Definitions Workgroup, and the Citizens Review Panel. She also participates as an active trainer for these workgroups. |
