Stephen Scott, Executive Director of Prevent Child Abuse Iowa since 1996, is responsible for the management of three child abuse prevention programs that provide services in 83 of Iowa's 99 counties. These three programs - the ICAPP, the HOPES/Healthy Families, Iowa, and the Young Families Initiative - assisted over 10,000 families and 43,000 children last year. Mr. Scott advocates both legislatively and administratively on behalf of child abuse prevention. He also conducts and publishes research on child abuse issues and edits the office's quarterly newsletter, Together for Prevention. Also, in Iowa, Mr. Scott has been a senior research associate at the Child and Family Policy Center. Prior to Iowa, Stephen Scott served as a staff attorney and later deputy director of the Minnesota Disability Law Project in Minneapolis from 1977 to 1991; as a staff attorney for Lehigh Valley Legal Services in Easton, Pennsylvania; and as a project manager at the Urban Institute in Washington, D.C.
