Consevella James has devoted her professional life and her personal energies to improving the lives of maltreated children in Arkansas. She is the founder of Treatment Homes, Incorporated (THING), which is the first therapeutic foster care program in Arkansas as well as the state's first therapeutic foster care program to be accredited through the Council on Accreditation (COA). As an active member of the Statewide Assessment Team for the Child and Family Services Review (CFSR), Ms. James has assisted the Division of Children and Family Services (DCFS). She acts in the capacity of an ex-official member of the legislative Children and Youth Subcommittee that oversees the partnership between DCFS and the Arkansas State Police, which assumes responsibility for the intake and investigation of reports of suspected child maltreatment. Ms. James established the Therapeutic Foster Care Providers Association in Arkansas and continues to participate actively in the annual state Foster Parent Conference.
