The Fourth National Incidence Study of Child Abuse and
Neglect (NIS-4): Design and Status (Roundtable 1)
This roundtable summarizes the design of the Fourth National Incidence Study of Child Abuse and Neglect, including all its enhanced features and any associated supplemental tasks, and reports on the status of the ongoing project work. The presenter details the sample design, including the overall scope of the study: all Child Protective Service agencies with jurisdiction in a nationally representative sample of about 120 counties and sentinels who are professionals working in approximately 1,600 non-CPS agencies in these counties. The roundtable also introduces the study web site, presents the data collection instruments and procedures, and identifies completion dates for key technical and findings reports.
