Valerie J. Bell has quietly and unpretentiously dedicated her professional practice to the prevention of child abuse and neglect. She has volunteered countless hours to non-profit organizations engaged in preventing abuse and neglect of children, and she is a Board member of Prevent Child Abuse Wyoming. She also serves as chair of the Department of Family Services Child Fatality and Major Injury Review Committee. In this capacity, she advises State policymakers on the clinical aspects of child maltreatment. Dr. Bell regularly volunteers time during business hours to attend court sessions, committee meetings, and community forums on child abuse.
Dr. Bell has a M.D. Degree from the University of Cincinnati College of Medicine. She completed an internship and residency program in Pediatrics at Children's Hospital Medical Center in Cincinnati, Ohio. Currently, she practices pediatric medicine at the Cheyenne Children's Clinic. She also has teaching appointments at the University of Colorado Department of Pediatrics and the University of Wyoming Family Practice Residency Program, where she focuses on the treatment of children suffering from abusive injuries.
Dr. Bell is the consummate child advocate. She freely gives her time to prevention programs for child abuse and neglect, and she dedicates herself to the medical care of children suffering from maltreatment. The citizens and children of Wyoming are well served by Dr. Bell's unselfish commitment to treat and prevent child abuse.
