New Mexico
Steven C. Johnson |
For over seventeen years, Steve Johnson has been providing child welfare services to the children and families of New Mexico. In 1983, he became Director of the Parents Anonymous program at All Faiths - one of the first treatment programs for all family members of child sexual abuse cases.
Mr. Johnson is currently the Executive Director of All Faiths, which has grown into one of New Mexico's largest, most diverse non-profit agencies serving children and families. The array of services there includes parent education and support, crisis shelter services for abused and neglected children, outpatient therapy for high-risk families, and forensic interviewing for child victims of sexual abuse.
The agency is located in Albuquerque - the largest urban area of the State - but it also provides services to other regions because of the rural nature of the State and the scarcity of resources outside this metropolitan area. Albuquerque presents unique challenges in service delivery because of its ethnic diversity, its urban and racial mix, and the presence of longstanding residents and new or transient populations as a result of the intersection of two major interstate highways in the community.
Under Mr. Johnson's leadership, All Faiths has expanded its role as a player in the provision of services to at-risk families. All Faiths has a long and well-respected history in the community, and it has frequently partnered successfully with the New Mexico Children, Youth and Families Department, where abused and neglected children receive high quality treatment services.
Mr. Johnson is an outstanding advocate for children and at-risk families. Under his innovative leadership, All Faiths is in the forefront of developing new and original services in Albuquerque. His unwavering energy and commitment are an asset to the State of New Mexico.
