Linda Winston |
Linda Winston is one of Iowa's leaders in community-based practice. She currently serves as Executive Director of Jane Boyd Community House, a non-profit family service agency celebrating its 80th year of continuous operations.
Ms. Winston exemplifies the key values in serving children and families: family, neighborhood, community. She also takes an active, "roll up your sleeves, we're all in this together" approach to the challenges and opportunities facing Iowa families today.
For more than 20 years, Ms. Winston has believed steadfastly in the voice of families and striven to make sure that voice is heard. She has been a staunch advocate for neighborhoods, and has promoted local community development and community-based responses to community needs. Over the years, she has been a champion of Patch, family resource centers, Grandparents As Parents, free medical clinics, early childhood development programs, neighborhood associations, and various diversity and cultural activities.
Ms. Winston is a Board member of the SAFE Coalition and, for more than six years, she has been actively involved in Partnerships for Safe Families. She has also served in the Cedar Rapids Civil Rights Commission for the past 15 years.
