Adoption Month Proclamations

Each year in November, the President of the United States issues a proclamation to announce National Adoption Month. Many State governors also issue proclamations to raise awareness of the need for adoptive families and encourage citizens to become involved in the lives of waiting children and youth.

Hawaii (2008)
Governor Linda Lingle and Lieutenant Governor James Aiona of Hawaii proclaim November as Adoption Month.

Idaho (2008)
Governor C.L. "Butch" Otter proclaims November to be Adoption Awareness Month in Idaho.

Michigan (2008)
Governor Jennifer M. Granholm proclaims November 15 to be National Adoption Day in Michigan.

New York (2008)
Governor David A. Paterson proclaims November to be Adoption Awareness Month in New York State.

Texas (2009)
Governor Rick Perry recognizes November as National Adoption Month in Texas.

Virginia (2008)
Governor Tim Kaine recognizes November as Adoption Awareness Month and November 15 as Adoption Day in the Commonwealth of Virginia.

West Virginia (2009) (PDF - 404 KB)
Governor Joe Manchin III proclaims November to be Adoption Awareness Month and November 21, 2009 as National Adoption Day in West Virginia.
