Adoption PSAs Generate Millions of Dollars in Donated Media Support and Help Find Families for Kids

Advertising is working to help connect prospective adoptive families with children and youth waiting in foster care for permanent families. The Ad Council's public service announcement (PSA) campaigns for the Children's Bureau, the Adoption Exchange Association, and AdoptUsKids generated over $215 million in donated television, radio, and print media support between July 2004 and March 2009. The upsurge in media exposure led to a significant increase in the number of calls, emails, and visits to the AdoptUsKids national photolisting website.

There were a number of other positive outcomes for the PSA campaigns on adoption:

  • Over $194 million in donated media support was generated by the General Market Adoption campaign as of March 2009. From the July 2004 campaign launch to June 2009, the total number of families with home studies who have registered on the AdoptUsKids website has increased from 1,261 to 19,133.

  • Over $20.3 million in donated media was generated through the Spanish language adoption campaign as of March 2009. AdoptUsKids received 12,088 intakes of Spanish-speaking families interested in adopting from foster care.

  • Nearly 14.5 million visits to adoptuskids.org and adopte1.org were generated from the July 2004 campaign launch to June 2009.

Be a part of this success story! Contact your local media about running the adoption PSAs. Their donations can help children and youth in foster care find permanent, loving homes.
