Help With RSS
Why would I want an RSS feed?
RSS is an easy way to receive the latest Child Welfare Information Gateway news and updates, without coming back to our website. Like our email subscription services, RSS feeds contain headlines, summaries, and links to full resources. However, RSS feeds can be delivered automatically to your computer's desktop rather than your email inbox.
How do I use RSS?
To use RSS, you need a news reader—a software program or web application that allows you to scan headlines from multiple news sources (feeds) in one place.
RSS readers can be easily accessed and/or downloaded from the Web. Most are free to use. Searching the popular search engines will give you a variety of RSS reader options. Information Gateway feeds should work with any reader using a standard (XML-based) format.
How do I subscribe to an Information Gateway feed?
To subscribe to an Information Gateway feed, click on the RSS icon
next to the service on the "Subscribe to RSS Feeds" tab. You will be directed to a page where you can subscribe to the feed with one of the popular feed readers listed. From this page, you may also elect to receive the feed by email or you may click on the "View Feed XML" link to subscribe to the feed in your web browser or copy the feed address to add to your own reader.
Remember: You must repeat this step for each RSS feed subscription you choose.
How can I unsubscribe?
Refer to the instructions for your reader, as each reader may have different directions for unsubscribing.
